Why Adding Cannabis to Your Skin Care Regimen is Dope

Cannabidiol serum oh how I love thee…….

Well. you would figure that my very first blog would be about the greatness that is cannabis in skin care.

Cannabidiol (CBD) skin therapies have gotten a lot of attention in my practice. From my quest to find the perfect hemp serum to use on my skin daily to the CBD INFUSION facial scheduled and performed over 230 times last year at Bloom, there is a good reason for this attention. It’s effective and has no downtime. And did I mention the results? Noticeable, results!! Lets talk about why that is.

Ok, you have been seeing the CBD signs all over town. But you may find yourself asking, “What exactly is CBD?”

Cannabidiol is derived from the flowers and leaves of the hemp plant. But don’t worry, there are no psychoactive properties to be experienced with these products and it is legal. Research suggests that cannabidiol may support a variety of ailments such as chronic pain, anxiety, and even to calm your nervous pups during those summer thunderstorms. Today however, we are going to talk about why you need this ingredient in your skin care arsenal.

How cannabis can benefit your skin

When hemp-infused oil is applied topically in skin care products, we are seeing the skin become smoother, clearer, and calmer. Researchers are still discovering the benefits of cannabinoids in skin care products but the documented medical studies done on this oil have shown that our body responds very well to this ingredient because of our bodies own endocannabinoid system.

The list below is only a few ways we are seeing changes in the skin:

  • Slows down the visible signs of aging, reduction in fine lines and those dark pigmentation spots that sneak out on us over the years

  • Reduces acne breakouts and controls oily skin

  • Minimizes rosacea flare-ups and the redness that comes along with it

  • Anti-inflammatory calming action with sensitive skin

What to look for in cannabis infused skin care products

  • FULL SPECTRUM After seeing the result difference between full spectrum vs isolate CBD, it’s full spectrum all the way! Think of it this way, full spectrum uses the whole plant and a CBD isolate is an isolated form where some of the plant ingredients are removed and just the CBD is present. There is a time and place for an isolate CBD just not in my skin care products.

  • Seek out skin serums, moisturizers and masks. Products that stay on your skin longer than 10 minutes will give the maximum benefit from the topical application of this oil. Hemp infused cleansers they are nice too, but it’s what stays on the skin longer that will make the difference.

  • Quality Sourced products from the United States. Not all countries grow and harvest under the strict regulations that we have here.

How to find a Hemp-derived skin care line best for you

  • Ask a cannabis trained professional or an esthetician well versed in hemp-oil infused skin care. These professionals are passionate and love to share their knowledge. If you walk into a wellness shop and the staff looks uninterested and isn’t willing to explain how this product works…… RUN! You aren’t just looking for a product with a label slapped on it that says it is CBD. You are looking for a full spectrum cannabis oil that contains CBG, CBN & CBC , along with other cannabinoids. See why you need to call in the professionals!?!

  • All products are not created equally so it can be hard to wade through the endless sea of CBD products. Cheaply made products, while nice on your pocket book, are useless and a waste of your hard earned money. I know it’s tempting to shop Amazon but in this case just don’t.

  • An effective hemp facial product requires an understanding of how our own body’s endocannabinoid system works. In other words, even though nature is at work here, there is some scientific know how needed to develop an effective product.

Recently, my Cannabidiol studies have led me to some great new facial products.

Specifically my new favorite find, GLO SERUM by KUL

KUL CBD is a full spectrum cannabis skin care line I have recently become very familiar with. If you have had a CBD Infusion facial with me over the last 3 weeks there is a great chance you have experienced this phenomenal line. The CBD Infusion Facial will get a blog post of its own pretty soon. Try one of my hemp infused facials as a great introduction to this extraordinary ingredient.

Plan a visit to Bloom Skin Care Studio and we can talk all about hemp and then some.
